About Me
I’m Grace K. Schuler, an award winning Chicago-based filmmaker with experience in Independent Film Production, Directing, Screenwriting, Assistant Directing, Camera Assisting, and Post-Production, as well as Film Festival Programming and Q&A Moderation.
As a filmmaker, I’ve Produced, Written, Directed, and Edited my own short films which have been award nominated and winning. My short film Passage Through Shadows won best Horror/Thriller Short at F3 Queen City Film Festival, Film Curation, and Awards in Cincinnati Ohio and was a semi-finalist at Luleá Film Festival in Luleá Sweden.
I am also actively involved with Film Festivals based in and outside of Chicago. I’ve pre-screened films, moderated Q&A’s, and contributed to the management of events for Onion City Experimental Film Festival and Reeling Film Festival, which included a series sponsored by Mubi. Additionally, I have led the programming and moderated Q&A’s for Chicago Filmmakers’ series Chicago Seen volumes 15, 16, and 17, which features short films from local filmmakers. I’ve also moderated and introduced a numbers of screenings outside of film festivals featuring the work of local filmmakers Miguel Silveira, Missy Hernandez, and Frederic Moffet. Beyond Chicago, I work with and attend the Telluride Film Festival as a Theater Operations Volunteer, where I manage queues outside of the theater, assist guests, and prepare the theater between screenings.
I graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a double major in Film & Digital Media on the production track and History with a focus on the medieval period and 20th century popular history.
